Not a Pussy! Just Doing the "Right Thing"!

"Waylon, I knew I loved you before I met you.
'The minute I heard my first love story, I started looking for you, not knowing how blind I was.  Lovers don't finally meet somewhere.  They're in each other all along.' --Rumi

Good Morning!  This one will be much shorter than yesterday's post.  Thanks for those of you that continue to read and show interest in my "love story".  Like I said, there is so much more to the story.  I'm not entirely sure that I will tell the complete story.  The truth is, we all have our stories that are wonderful and unless you really know someone, it isn't always interesting to hear their whole story.  But it will be cool for my kids to read some day.

A few things that make me laugh:
  • After my husband read what I wrote yesterday about our first meeting, falling in love, etc., he smiled a half smile and said "Aww, that was sweet" but I could tell that there was more.  He finally came out with it and told me that he thought I kind of made him sound like a big PUSSY with the NO kissing until after we told each other that we loved each other.  Ha ha!
  • So, a quick clarification, I came to Oregon with a boyfriend.  A great guy really.  Just not for me.  He was home in Ontario for the summer.  Although he was a good guy (for someone else), he just wasn't the one for me.  Waylon and I both thought it would be the right thing to wait until AFTER I broke up with this guy to kiss.
  • Don't get me wrong, the energy between us was THICK and Intense.  You could feel it everywhere we went and probably couldn't cut it with any knife.
  • And YES, plenty of kissing before marriage.  LOTS of it!  For those of you that might have pegged us for the no kissing until our wedding.  What?!!  No Thank YOU!!
  • Waylon wasn't "my type" at first.  I was not interested at all.  He was much too much of the party guy and even though he was a 4.0 Electrical Engineer student, I still had him pegged as "Not responsible or romantic enough" at first.  I figured that since he wasn't sitting around studying all the time and reading poetry, quoting Emerson and Thoreau...you know the stuff that some college boys try to do to impress the ladies...then he was way too much of a jock/party guy for me.  He was also a pretty AWESOME rugby dude.
  • He was definitely a 21 year old boy and everyone LOVED him and kept saying how we'd be perfect together.  I was such a snob for coming up with all the reasons why I didn't think so.  Gosh, I'm glad God slapped some sense into me!!!
  • Once we went on a few runs, camping trips on the beach, and lots of time hanging out, I realized that there was WAY more to this dude than just a guy that loved his plants, skateboard, Bob Marley, and being involved with every social opportunity.  He was the real Deal!  HIs grades, his goals, his relationship with his PARENTS...this was a big win over for me.
Backpacking in Colorado.  Summer 2000

Near Eugene, OR.  Summer 2000 Country Fair.  Yes, that is my bandana on my boobs...not sure how that happened since I had a much bigger rack and the chances of that now are SLIM! And check out the dude behind us with the HUGE Fro wig!  We were definitely all Hippied Out for the Country Fair!  I even crocheted my purse!  Ha!

So there you have it.  For the record, my husband wasn't just some Pansy with no sex drive.  Ha!  He really did WANT to kiss me and I WANTED to kiss him.  We were just trying to do the right thing and not start such a special relationship on a bad note.  So as soon as I made the difficult break-up phone call to Ontario, Canada....Let the Making OUT begin!  We made time for eating and sleeping sometimes too.

Not so sure he will be very happy about this post.  Sorry honey.  I'll delete it before you read it on your commute home from work.

Taking care of some Business......

1. I Promise I will get caught up with all of you Tonight!  I miss reading your blogs and I have had a hard time doing so the past few weeks.  There are a lot of new readers here too and I hope to come say hello and respond to you.  Right now I've got to figure out a way to manage my e-mail because I wake up in the morning with all my blog comments, facebook comments (from both accounts) and personal e-mail all in one hotmail account.  I'm buried before I even start my day! Oh, and then there is the fact that I have three small kids that take priority.  So if I it seems like I'm a snob, I'm not ignoring you intentionally.  I don't know how you people do it who have bigger blogs!!  Tips?

2. Thanks for your Votes!  You guys are great...You've brought me up to 10th place of this silly but fun list/friendly competition!  Please keep it up.
